Washington Nationals’ prospects performing well in 2021 Arizona Fall League…

WASHINGTON – A giant a part of the longer term for the Washington Nationals is out in Arizona proper now – and that’s the place assistant basic supervisor, participant improvement Mark Scialabba has been the previous few days.

The Nationals have a number of of their prospects on the roster of the Shock Saguaros, and that supervisor of that group is Mario Lisson, who held the identical job with Single-A Fredericksburg in the Nats’ system this previous season.

Scialabba was readily available Thursday as right-handed pitcher Cole Henry noticed motion for Shock.

Henry went on the 60-day Injured Record in early August with Single-A Wilmington then was activated by Shock on August 4.

“Yesterday, he struggled together with his command a bit,” Scialabba instructed Federal Baseball on Friday.

“However he has been excellent right here, together with his two-seam and four-seam fastballs. His curveball has taken a brand new form since he got here again from his damage. His changeup is his go-to pitch; it has good sink and fade to it. He’s a fiery competitor and leaves all of it on the market.”

One other pitcher with Shock is Jackson Rutledge, one of many prime pitching prospects in the Washington system. He had a tough season in the minors in 2021 with a 7.68 ERA in 13 begins with three groups.

“He’s doing well. He’s studying find out how to pitch,” Scialabba stated. “He didn’t have the common season he needed. He’s beginning to command his two-seam fastball. The change has good late sink and fade. We’re pleased with the very fact he’s studying find out how to pitch.”

Outfielder Donovan Casey has handled a minor hamstring damage this week and wasn’t in the lineup on Thursday, based on Scialabba.

“He performs together with his hair on hearth,” the farm director stated. “He’s very aggressive defensively and covers quite a lot of floor. He has a plus arm; he can change the sport on protection by holding a runner or making a throw. Then on the plate, he has plus bat-speed, energy to all fields. He takes his walks.”

Casey got here to the Nationals in the commerce with the Dodgers in late July and after that he performed 12 video games at Double-A Harrisburg and 38 at Triple-A Rochester.

He had 16 homers and 22 steals in 2021, counting his time with Double-A Tulsa in the Dodgers’ system.
