U.S. warns of space debris after reports that Russia destroyed one of its satellites

The U.S. on Monday warned of a “debris-generating occasion” in space amid reports that Russia blew up one of its satellites over the weekend, and mentioned it was coordinating with different nations to assist guarantee the protection of their gear in orbit.

Though the command didn’t say what triggered the occasion, a protection official confirmed to POLITICO the debris was the end result of an anti-satellite check performed by Russia over the weekend.
