The Power of the Dog leads London Critics’ Circle film nominations | Movies

Jane Campion’s western The Power of the Dog emerged at the head of the pack in the nominations for the London Critics’ Circle film awards, adopted by The Misplaced Daughter, the Maggie Gyllenhaal-directed adaptation of an Elena Ferrante novel, and Joanna Hogg’s autobiographical The Memento Half II.

In complete, The Power of the Dog obtained 9 nominations, together with film of the yr, director and screenwriter of the yr for Campion, and 5 appearing nods (together with two for its lead, Benedict Cumberbatch). That was three forward of The Misplaced Daughter, which obtained six, together with film of the yr and two every for actors Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley.

The Memento Half II, the second of Joanna Hogg’s two-part account of an aspiring film-maker, was subsequent consistent with 5 (together with film of the yr and director of the yr for Hogg) – simply forward of two different movies which have prospered higher elsewhere, Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast and Aleem Khan’s After Love, which each obtained 4 nominations. Belfast, a chronicle of Branagh’s childhood in 70s Northern Eire, is presently vying for supremacy with The Power of the Dog for the Golden Globes and appears a certain guess for a number of Oscar nominations, whereas After Love, a few lady who discovers her husband’s secret life after his dying, dominated the British film impartial awards, the place it gained six.
