Tanden withdraws as Biden's budget chief pick

President Joe Biden is withdrawing Neera Tanden’s nomination to be his budget director, Biden mentioned in an announcement on Tuesday night.

Tanden confronted opposition from not less than one Democratic senator and was struggling to win any Republican help, leaving her nomination to guide the White Home Workplace of Administration and Budget with no clear path towards affirmation.

“Sadly, it now appears clear that there is no such thing as a path ahead to achieve affirmation, and I don’t need continued consideration of my nomination to be a distraction out of your different priorities,” Tanden mentioned in a letter requesting her withdrawal. Biden’s assertion indicated that he expects Tanden to serve in one other function in his administration.
