Nike won’t renew its endorsement contract with Kobe Bryant’s property following its expiration on April 13, in keeping with Complicated’s Brendan Dunne.
Bryant’s property is now free to barter with different manufacturers, per The Athletic‘s Shams Charania.
“Kobe Bryant was an necessary a part of Nike’s deep connection to shoppers,” Nike said in a press release. “He pushed us and made everybody round him higher. Although our contractual relationship has ended, he stays a deeply beloved member of the Nike household.”
Bryant signed with Nike in 2003 after beginning his skilled profession with Adidas in 1996. He launched over a dozen signature sneakers with Nike, and the corporate continued to launch footwear after his demise in 2016.
The final Bryant shoe from Nike will drop in 2021, per Dunne.
