A lot of conferences around the country, especially mid-majors have already begun their conference tournament, but not the MAC. They still have a few things to sort out, especially in Ohio with the Akron Zips in third in the conference at 21-9 (13-4) and the Kent State Golden Flashes in second with a 24-6 (14-3) record, who are each trailing Toledo.

Akron beat Kent State at home earlier in the season, so a win today would jump the Zips into the No. 2 seed in the MAC tournament. Here are the odds for the Golden Flashes and the Zips at Kent State tonight.

In Akron’s win earlier this year, they won a low-scoring battle, 67-55, and did it with 24 points from their leading scorer, Xavier Castaneda. Castaneda averages 21.8 points a game and whether it’s tournament season or not, a dominant senior guard is what every team in the country wants in March. He’ll be a huge advantage for the Zips this month.

However, Kent State has a guard of their own, Sincere Carry has averaged 16.1 points a game for the Golden Flashes this year, his senior season. He has led Kent State to score 75.6 points a game, which is more than enough for the No. 18 team in defensive efficiency. The Golden Flashes are 18-10 against the spread this season and 14-0 at home. I have to ride with them in a huge game which will decide the No. 2 seed in the MAC tournament.
